The Good Landlord Charter launches trailblazing EDI training for landlords

At the Good Landlord Charter, we believe that no one should be discriminated against when renting their home. This commitment is embedded in the Charter through our criteria, and landlords commit to Criterion 5: 'make a demonstrable commitment to accepting tenants from any background.' 

We’re proud to have launched Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training for landlords in Greater Manchester, with the first group of landlords taking the course in person on Thursday 9 July. Landlords can also choose to complete the course online, at their own pace. 

Overview of EDI training tailor-made for landlords 

EDI training for landlords is hard to access, particularly for smaller landlords, and often not tailored to their role. This new training course, developed by the Charter, fills that gap and supports landlords to be inclusive of all their tenants. Crucially, it’s free of charge, in line with the Charter’s principle of being free and voluntary for landlords. 

Through five modules, the course takes landlords through the legal landscape around the Equality Act and the Renters’ Rights Act. The training presents a series of fictional scenarios to encourage landlords to think about their ‘unconscious biases’ and delve into the impact of discrimination.

1. Register as a Supporter of the Good Landlord Charter 

2. Speak to your professional advisor 

3. View the five modules online or at an in-person workshop 

4. Complete the quiz 

5. Receive your certificate 

The Charter's Network and Learning Manager, Claire Vibert, said:
