To join the Good Landlord Charter, you must meet your legal minimum requirements to operate as a landlord.
Landlords who register get support from the Charter to ensure they’re compliant with their responsibilities.

Who is a Good Landlord Charter Supporter?
Landlords in Greater Manchester can register to become Supporters of the Good Landlord Charter.
Becoming a Supporter is the first step for landlords. This is a demonstration that they meet legal minimum requirements and are committed to achieving the Charter’s criteria.
Supporters unlock benefits from the Charter to help them progress to Members of the Good Landlord Charter.
Who is a Good Landlord Charter Member?
Members of the Good Landlord Charter are accredited landlords who meet all of the Charter’s criteria.
Members are recognised as Good Landlords by the Charter and are providing better rental experiences in Greater Manchester.

7 Steps to Membership
1. Register
Register your interest to join the Good Landlord Charter by completing our registration form to demonstrate you meet the legal minimum requirements as a landlord and want to work towards Membership. Our Memebrship & Quality team will review your application and support you on your next steps.
2. Unlock Benefits
Landlords who meet the legal minimum requirements are then approved as Supporters of the Charter and unlock benefits that help them progress to Membership.
3. Self-assessment
Our criteria are grouped into seven characteristics of good renting. We know many landlords will already be doing good work on many of these characteristics. That's why we've created a quick self-assessment so our Supporters get the right advice and guidance from their professional advisor.
4. Meet your advisor
After the self-assessment, you'll be assigned a professional advisor to suit your needs from the Good Landlord Charter. Your professional advisor will support your steps to Membership.
5. Develop
Work with your advisor to meet the Good Landlord Charter's criteria. Supporters get exclusive invitations to networks and events to help develop their portfolios as Good Landlords.
6. Portfolio
Your professional advisor will support you to complete your portfolio of evidence to become a Good Landlord Charter Member. You'll have access to our checklist of criteria to demonstrate that you go above and beyond to provide a better renting experience in Greater Manchester.
7. Submit
When your portfolio is ready, it will be submitted to our Governing Board for approval. Supporters who are approved by the Governing Board become Members of the Good Landlord Charter and unlock even more perks.
