THE GOOD LANDLORD CHARTER

Making Renting Better

The Good Landlord Charter is making renting better for tenants in Greater Manchester. Landlords are registering as Supporters to improve the management of their housing. Meeting all 21 criteria lets landlords become full Charter Members and Good Landlords.

Membership with the Charter strengthens tenant protections and improves the overall quality of the renting experience for both landlords and tenants.

The Good Landlord Charter is working to raise renting standards across Greater Manchester by supporting landlords to aim for higher standards than the minimum they are required to meet by law.

The Charter is open to all residential landlords, raising expectations of renting across Greater Manchester. This will help tenants find landlords committed to a better renting experience.

If you think one of our landlord Supporters does not meet legal minimum requirements, please let us know. We can explore in more detail and provide support where appropriate.

SUPPORT

Champions of the Charter

Property agents can become Champions of the Charter to support landlords in meeting the Charter’s standards.

You may come across an agent that is a Champion of the Charter when looking for a new rental property. This title means they support the Charter's goals and are helping their landlords to join the Charter.

Being a Champion of the Charter does not mean that the agent has been assessed against the Charter’s Membership criteria. You can read more about the role of Champions of the Charter here.
